SHORT FILMS

Since 2000, Romain Claris has directed short films that have been selected and awarded at nearly one hundred international film festivals. His works, sensitive and contemplative, blend nature, myths, and emotions, offering the viewer a journey at the crossroads of beauty, time, and destiny.



L’EAU DE LA TERRE
Loosely inspired by about thirty paintings by great masters such as Qi Baishi, Gao Xingjian, Shoda Koho, and Katsushika Hokusai, Chloé Guêze paints this Oceanian tale that tells the story of an ordinary little frog who wanted to become extraordinary.



LES COUSINS DES NUAGES
In Asia, elephants are said to be the cousins of clouds in every rural village. A one-minute poetic film, painted on Buddha Board and captured on mobile.



ICI COMMENCE
An oratorio, a nautical chart: a short film. A crossing—of the sea between lands, of horror toward the first glimmers of hope. Here begins… The film was produced for the first edition of A Treasure on the Map, organized by the Watever-Seatizens association, whose auction helped support SOS Méditerranée and the SNSM.



VOICI QUE LA NUIT - Teaser
Five young women sleep. One old man watches. Six nights unfold. A meditation on beauty, tenderness, aging, and death, loosely inspired by Yasunari Kawabata’s Sleeping Beauties (Nemureru Bijo).



OMIKUJI
In Japan, the omikuji predicts the likelihood of a wish coming true, finding love, or fortune in health and life. A delicate reflection on fate and hope.



PAINTING WITH THE DRAGONFLY
A poetic film. “Watch the dragonfly’s lift, the harmony of colors in motion… then it’s your turn to paint.”



CHOICE OF DEEPNESS
A staircase above the sea. The film was part of the French Selection at World One Minutes, Beijing 2008, as part of the cultural program of the Olympic Games.
